Disclaimer
Plant Vertix publishes general education and how-to guidance about vertical gardening and space-saving plant growing. It is written for a general reader, about categories of structure and plant, not about your particular wall, building, or lease. Please read it that way.
This Site Does Not Assess Your Specific Structure
Plant Vertix is not a structural engineer, a contractor, or a building inspector. Nothing on this site is an assessment, certification, or guarantee that any wall, balcony, railing, or floor in your home can safely carry a specific vertical garden structure.
Any weight or load figures mentioned on this site are general, typical ranges offered for orientation, not a substitute for checking your own building’s actual capacity. Before mounting anything to a wall, hanging weight from a railing, or placing a heavy planted structure on a balcony or rooftop, confirm the load limit with your building management, landlord, or a qualified structural professional. This applies with particular force to rented properties, shared buildings, and anything mounted above head height.
Not Landlord-Tenant or Legal Advice
Nothing on this site is legal advice about your lease, your deposit, or what your landlord will or will not allow. Rules vary by building, city, and country. Check your own lease and, where a rule is unclear, ask your landlord or property manager directly before drilling, mounting, or otherwise altering a rented wall or balcony.
No Guaranteed Results
Every wall, climate, water supply, and plant is different. What worked on a setup described on this site may not work the same way for you. Nothing here is a promise of plant survival, yield, structural performance, or any other outcome.
Water and Structural Safety
- Water is heavy, and it finds the smallest gap. A poorly protected wall-mounted system can cause real, sometimes expensive damage to paint, plaster, drywall, or a neighbor’s ceiling below a balcony. Follow drainage and wall-protection guidance carefully, and when in doubt, err toward a freestanding or floor-supported structure instead of a wall-mounted one.
- Weight limits exist for a reason. Balconies, railings, and interior walls all have real load limits. Exceeding them is a safety risk, not just a cosmetic one.
